Project SHU completes sea trials!
Project SHU has successfully concluded her final sea trials in the Baltic Sea. Her delivery is planned for autumn of this year.
Designer Espen Oeino has given SHU an elegant and graceful exterior line whilst ensuring, despite her massive volume, that she maintains her striking looks. The balance and proportion of the exterior profile allows for generous deck space that offer a range of options for owners and guests to enjoy. From sun opulent and open entertainment areas to more shaded and intimate spaces. A special feature is the enormous swimming pool, which runs transversely on the main deck aft. The exterior also boasts two helicopter landing pads, one on the bridge deck and another on the sun deck aft, allowing for multiple helicopter use for owners and guests. Other highlights of her profile include the sea terraces and platforms, which enable guests to access the water easily for water sport activities as well as relaxation. In perfect combination with her beautiful exterior, designer Mark Berryman has created an interior that is nothing short of spectacular. SHU has a calm and spacious feel which has been beautifully crafted with the use of soft neutral tones and tactile finishes.
Imperial Yachts is responsible for supervising the built project and have brought with them their vast experience and knowledge. “Project SHU represents a major milestone for Imperial.” says Julia Stewart, Director at Imperial Yachts. “Being involved in impressive superyacht projects like these show our capacity and experience in superyacht and megayacht management, with regular deliveries of 80m+ projects supervised and operated by our team since 2015. Lürssen launched project Fiji
On the 27th October 2017 Lürssen launched project Fiji in the traditional fashion: down the slipway!
The contract was signed at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2015 and her delivery is scheduled for 2019. Moran Yacht & Ship is representing the client and supervising the project. Harrison Eidsgaard has given Fiji very harmonious proportions and with a length of 95 m and a beam of 14 m she boasts extraordinary volumes, accommodating all of the owner’s requirements whilst still maintaining sleek and very elegant lines. The interior is designed by Studio Laura Sessa and can best be described as contemporary modern. Among the special features are a large beach club and spa area with a sea terrace on the lower deck.
On the upper deck aft are a walkable skylight and an integrated fire place for cosy moments in the evening. The bow is laid out for a certified helicopter landing area. The sun deck aft offers a hidden crane in the bulwark to handle an aeroboat.
Lürssen delivers 74-metre yacht Aurora
Lürssen is proud to announce the successful delivery of the 74-metre yacht Aurora on 8 June 2017. Aurora was built to exacting standards and offers an entirely bespoke design. She successfully concluded her sea trials at the end of May in the Baltic Sea with ideal weather conditions for her premier. In mid-June, this world-class yacht will depart for her maiden voyage, heading to the Mediterranean where she will enjoy her very first season with her new owners.
The striking exterior and stunning interior design are both from the Winch Design team. Keeping in mind the owner’s desire to enjoy the yacht with family, the design includes many areas, which are intimate and personal. All her decks were built taking family spaces into consideration. Rich mahogany and stainless steel adorn the exterior profile, reflecting the romance of transatlantic liners and giving the yacht a timeless grace. Aurora has her own authentic charm; she is a modern interpretation of an old classic, with a number of innovative features such as a large portlight to the main staircase and custom, state-of-the-art exterior lighting across each deck. Numerous remarkable artworks can be found on the bridge deck, which also features an aft bar for entertaining.
Her interior is based on the early 1900s Art Deco era, taking inspiration from influential artists and designers from the time period. The interior is unique and particular, following the specific vision of the owner, who was heavily involved in the design process. The master suite is based on antique artworks and each guest cabin boasts individual characteristics. The full beam sky lounge is one of the most impressive and luxurious areas of the yacht.
“At Lürssen, we believe to build a yacht it is vital to work as a team, and to execute such a comprehensive project, an excellent team is necessary,” says Managing Partner, Peter Lürssen. In this case, the team consisted of Moran Yacht & Ship, the owner's project manager, the design team from Winch Design and, of course, the project team from Lürssen.
“The owner’s family happily enjoyed yachting for many years,” he explains. “After gaining so much experience, they had no doubts with whom to build their first bespoke yacht. We are happy that we have met the high expectations of the owner, both in terms of product quality and being able to deliver within budget and on time. We are looking forward to Aurora finding her place amongst her peers as a remarkable statement in large yacht construction, based on a strong design and expert engineering skills."
“Motor Yacht of the Year” Award goes to Dilbar (156m)
It was a magic night when last Saturday (13th May) the World Superyacht Awards ceremony, organized by Boat International Media, took place in Florence in the palatial surroundings of the Palazzo Vecchio to celebrate the best of the best in Yachting today. The jewel in the crown of the Yachting Awards is the “Motor Yacht of the Year Award” which recognizes the very best motor yacht delivered in 2016. It is selected from all of the award winners in the motor yacht categories by a panel of esteemed judges.
Lürssen’s superyacht Dilbar was named Motor Yacht of the Year 2017 after the judges were dazzled by her outstanding design. “One of the most complex and challenging yachts to be built”, the judges described her “as the most spectacular yacht they had ever seen and a clear winner for this prestigious award.”
Dilbar also won in her category for “Displacement Motoryacht 3,000 GT and Above”. The rules of the event dictate that should only one yacht be entered in a class, this class is amalgamated with the most appropriate alternative. Dilbar, being the only vessel to qualify for the ‘Displacement Yachts of above 3,000 GT’ class, was therefore placed in the class below. But when it came to judging, the judges decided that it was impossible to fairly decide a winner for this class when Dilbar was seven times larger in terms of Gross Tonnage (a measure of internal volume) than the next largest yacht!
The judges that visited Dilbar unanimously stated that Dilbar is the most spectacular yacht they have ever seen.
