Eyes on the future, roots in tradition
Innovation is a Lürssen tradition. This was firmly established in 1886, when Friedrich Lürßen built the world’s first motorboat – an innovation so extraordinary that people tried to prevent its maiden voyage for fear that its Daimler internal combustion engine might explode. We actively continue the tradition of setting trends, for example, with an invitation to the finalists in the annual Boat International Media, this year sponsored by Feadship, "Young Designer of the Year" competition: each year, we give the finalists the opportunity to visit our shipyards, discuss their designs with our experienced experts and gain valuable insights into the real world of custom yacht-building. Here, the young designers present their work and describe their concepts in their own words.
