UNSEEN is inspired by the vision of taking her owner to the most adventurous, far-reaching regions of the world. This project is shaped by challenging exploration missions, while offering the best possible service in terms of functionality and comfort. The exterior design adopts classic explorer yacht styling: durable, reliable and able to withstand even the most demanding routes. In contrast, her interior spaces are warm, inviting, and comfortable. Emphasis has been placed on ensuring a safe, cosy environment for scientific research in adverse weather conditions in places like the Northwest Passage. Unseen has a large garage for tenders, exploration crafts, and a submersible. Emergencies have also been considered, with the inclusion of an emergency aid room. Unseen is where science meets high standards of comfort and elegance, while efficiently fulfilling all the owner’s requirements. Every area of the yacht has been designed for long-term research and exploration.
Meet Melisa Civlez
What drew you to yacht design?
I have a deep affinity for interior design and how it shapes the way people experience a space. Yacht design takes this a step further. It requires the interior and exterior to communicate seamlessly, enhancing each other. This, I find incredibly compelling. Yacht design is the perfect blend of creativity and engineering, and seeing a design come to life on the water is exciting.
Which designers inspire your craft?
Many yachts and designs have inspired this project. While it's difficult to name them all, certain designers stand out: Lobanov Design, Harrison Eidsgaard, Winch Design, Azure Yacht Design, Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, and FM Architettura. They have all shaped my approach with aesthetics, harmonious exteriors. They inspired me to push my limits and achieve better results. The 142-metre Lürssen NORD, with her onboard hanger, and the angular yet seamlessly blended exterior surfaces of Lobanov’s BEGALLTA have both been further inspiration.
How would you like to see yacht design evolve?
I see yacht design evolving into a more innovative and sustainable field, where sustainability becomes a natural part of the design process. I would like to see more innovation, not only in technology but also in the exterior and interior design. It would be interesting to see innovative interior designs that combine creativity with highly functional spaces.
