OCEANUS, inspired by the Ancient Greek Titan who ruled the seas, was designed specifically for Arctic exploration. Blending modern elegance with rugged strength, OCEANUS harmonises with the stark beauty of icy landscapes. Its defining feature is the continuous side lines sweeping along the hull, evoking the endless horizon where sea meets sky. These flowing contours enhance the yacht’s sleek aesthetic while expressing fluidity and unity with nature. Built for both adventure and luxury, OCEANUS invites passengers to explore the world’s most remote and breathtaking regions in unmatched comfort. Key design innovations include a streamlined structure that minimises volume for improved efficiency and reduced fuel consumption, along with thoughtfully zoned decks that optimise privacy and the flow between leisure, guest, and operational areas. Multiple launch methods ensure quick and safe deployment of tenders, while a hybrid propulsion system reduces emissions and extends cruising range. A fully enclosed hangar is seamlessly integrated, maintaining both aesthetic and operational performance, and the 360-degree bridge view enhances navigation with superior visibility and situational awareness. An asymmetric layout maximises onboard space and creates distinctive external viewpoints. Completing the experience is the Arctic-inspired interior palette – cool tones and rugged textures that bring the raw sophistication of polar landscapes indoors.
Meet Dimitrios Timagenis
What drew you to yacht design?
My introduction to yacht design came through my father, who is a renowned acoustic consultant and architect based in Greece. Over the years, he consulted several yacht designers – both sailing and motor – where specialised acoustic treatment was required in different areas. Being around those projects sparked my interest in the unique challenges and intricacies of designing for marine environments.
Which designers inspire your craft?
As a general concept, I’ve always been drawn to “ unique” yacht designs. While I don’t have a single favourite designer, two yachts stand out to me for different reasons, both of which have left a strong impression on my own design approach. The first is Sparta, designed by Winch Design. As a Greek, I found the conceptual execution of this yacht especially resonant. The bold red lines combined with the sharp, blade-like exterior profile evoke imagery reminiscent of Spartan warriors, while the interior seamlessly carries that same energy through its palette and geometry. The second yacht that deeply inspired me, particularly in shaping OCEANUS, is Ragnar. What struck me first was the transformation narrative: taking an older vessel and reimagining it into something bold, fresh, and full of character. These two projects reflect very different philosophies, but both exemplify how strong concept, narrative, and thoughtful execution can create something truly memorable. That’s the level of depth and uniqueness I aim to bring into my own work.
How would you like to see yacht design evolve?
While sustainability is crucial, I’d love to see more bold, unique designs. Concepts with unconventional geometries, transformable elements, or parametric features open up an exciting world of possibilities. There’s so much potential to create yachts that are not only green but also truly pioneering in design.
